  1. Leibele Waldman officiated at my wedding many years ago at the Plaza Hotel in NYC. I will never forget the magnificent ceremony with a choir that almost made me cry under the chuppah.

I was also fortunate to have heard Cantor Waldman
at the Grossinger resort in the Catskills for the Passover Holidays. I recall that there was such demand to hear Cantor Waldman, that people were willing to stay at nearby Hotels and Motels.

  2. I was thrilled to have heard Hazzan Waldman when he dedicated my family's Synagogue in New Jersey many years ago. My father took me to hear him and his choir davin for the first time in our new Synagogue. This was an experience I will never
forget. Twelve hundred people "jammed" into our shule as people were asked to leave due to the fire laws. I could have sat there all day.

  3. I grew up listening to Hazzan Waldman with my family on the radio almost every Sunday. Fridays were difficult since we all worked. In my opinion he possessed a unique voice that touched my soul. I will never forget the first time I heard Hazzan Waldman in person with the Nadel choir at a Maariv-S'firah concert. I can still recall the "Hashkiveinu" and "Ribono Shel Olam" he sang.
Unfortunately, he never recorded either one.

  4. I found the new Labele Waldman BLOG very interesting. As a woman who sang professionally in her early years, I was never interested in Hebrew liturgical music. One Rosh Hashanah Holiday, I attended Services with my husband in Atlantic City and recall sitting through the entire Service which was a "FIRST" for me. Leibele Waldman was the Cantor officiating with a choir. When he sang, you could hear a pin drop. I actually felt as though he had touched my soul. When I returned home to Philadelphia, I decided to buy not only Cantor Waldman's cassettes but the cassettes of two other Cantors whose music was recommended by the proprietor of the Hebrew bookstore. Needless to say, I was "hooked". Waldman still remains my favorite. I also attended some of his concerts and had the opportunity to talk to him about his musical career. I found him to be a very soft and humble man with a wonderful sense of humor.
